The Altitude Story

Altitude is the brainchild of Paul Halstead and Damian Procter, two avid enthusiasts in the Melbourne IT Recruitment sphere who worked together previously for seven years. They wanted to perform IT recruitment in a very different manner to the rest of the market and it was this vision that inspired them to establish Altitude in 2016 as a customer-centered, professional recruitment and advisory consultancy.

With Paul now following his passion for building automobile masterpieces, Altitude has continued to grow from strength to strength with Damian and a dedicated team of consultants, providing personalised recruitment services across a specialised range of roles.

From day one when Paul and Damian started Altitude, our success and growth has been based on developing strong and genuine relationships; built on a reputation for providing a high level of care to our client and candidate communities.

Client Care

Our approach to Client Care is driven by our pursuit to help you achieve your hiring goals. No matter the role you’re recruiting for, our commitment to you is that we will:

    • Represent your organisation with professionalism at all times, through headhunting, networking and all advertising channels.
    • Conduct a detailed candidate screening process ensuring the candidates meet the technical skills, whilst also having the right interpersonal skills to fit with your company and team values. 
    • Ensure all candidates submitted have provided their consent to have their profiles represented. 
    • Complete a two step reference check and verification. 
    • Provide a comprehensive onboarding process for all employees and subcontractors, supporting compliance to all statutory standards and company requirements. 

We will work transparently at all times, to help mitigate any risks during the Recruitment Process.

Let’s be honest; job seeking can be a challenging process. Our team at Altitude understands this so we take great pride in providing you a quality recruitment experience. 


OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS

  1. When we advertise a role, depending on the volume of applications and key skills required by our clients, we initially only contact shortlisted candidates and then notify all applicants when the role is closed.
  2. Where you’re shortlisted, our team will take the time to really understand what you’re seeking in your next role and give you a detailed brief of the opportunity at hand to assess its suitability to you.
  3. Our commitment to honesty and transparency means that you’ll be represented fairly to our clients.
  4. You’ll be kept aware of where you are in the recruitment process and we’ll strive to provide a personalised level of care and service through:
    • the initial phone screen and internal interview
    • helping you through preparation for the client interview
    • accepting the offer, assisting you through you resignation and signing the new contract
    • assisting in your onboarding
    • helping you get settled into your new role.

Deepthi is a Senior Consultant with extensive experience in and a passion for technical recruitment. A quiet achiever, she is driven by the pursuit of achieving results for challenging roles, meeting tight deadlines, and is highly capable of leading large recruitment campaigns for both contract and permanent recruitment.

Deepthi’s Specialisations are in recruiting for roles across Architecture, DevOps, Software Development & Testing.

Deepthi is a Mum of two and is the Founder of Care2Connect, a charity that aims to link people with disabilities to relevant services so they can live life to their fullest potential.

James Hawes

James Hawes

Senior Recruitment Consultant

James is a Senior Recruitment Consultant with experience working across both the NSW and VIC markets. He specialises in working within Technology Project Services, recruiting Project Managers, Business Analysts, Change Managers and Architects; helping clients to secure resources for their business critical, IT transformation programs of work.

James enjoys building solid, long-standing relationships with his clients and candidates where he can not only make a difference but learn and continuously develop his own skills.

James is a dad of two young kids. During his free time, he enjoys days at the beach with his family and reliving his youth on the basketball court.

Sowmya Panthangi

Recruitment Resourcer

Sowmya plays an integral part of Altitude’s global operations in leading the recruitment to source top-quality talent for the emerging contracting market in India. She also supports the Altitude team to resource for the fast turnaround or more challenging roles.

She is a technical recruiter who takes great pride in guiding candidates through the recruitment process for Software Development & Testing, DevOps/SRE and Project Services roles.

Sowmya enjoys leaving the bustle of the city for a tree change, frequenting visits to India’s greenery up in the hill stations. She’s a biriyani connoisseur and loves to dance along to her favourite tunes.

Recruitment Consultant, Social Media & Marketing

Kenya leads our Social Media activities and Marketing support, helping develop and share value-added content to our tech communities.

She also supports the team in strategic sourcing across Project Services, DevOps, Software Development & Testing. She strives to deliver an exceptional recruitment experience and is motivated by continuous learning.

Kenya is a proud Mexican who loves to socialise, cooking and enjoying quality food. She also loves her downtime, reading a book with some classical music in the background.

Jessica Taylor

Recruitment Consultant

Jessica is a Recruitment Consultant with experience in Operational positions as well as Support roles. She has a focus on providing recruitment assistance to our Higher Education provider clients which include major Universities and TAFE Institutes.

Jessica’s specialisations are in recruiting for roles across Higher Education and is responsible for maintaining and managing our contractors.

Jessica’s passion has always been in automobiles, she has been previously employed by Audi and Porsche.

Osh Raffel

Finance & Operations Manager

Osh leads our Finance & Operations functions. She helps with all finance related matters including payroll processing and onboarding for our contractors, staff, and she manages the operations and processes within Altitude.

She is a CPA qualified Accountant, and helps with Contractor Care, managing our vendor arrangements and keeping our team together.

Osh is a Mum of two. She enjoys spending time with her family and travelling in and around Australia.

Dom Mallawarachy

Manager, Recruitment

Dom is a Senior Consultant / Manager bringing diverse experience to the team from having worked across a range of internal and agency recruitment roles and a background in Operations Management. His motivation is helping his network to make mutual connections, and supporting his clients and candidates through the recruitment process for challenging roles.

Dom’s specialisations are in recruiting for roles across Technology, Sales, Marketing and Operations.

Dom enjoys spending time with his young family; visiting farmers markets, exploring the great outdoors, wineries and Melbourne’s culinary scene.

Damian Procter

Damian Procter

Managing Director

Damian founded Altitude and is a recruitment enthusiast with a passion for helping his client and candidate community to achieve the best possible outcomes. He is also motivated by helping the community, specifically women and kids in technology.

Damian specialises in Firmware Engineering and Embedded Systems and also leads recruitment across Data Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning for our sister brand Cognr.

Damian is a proud Dad to two adventurous kids.
